As a non-profit organisation the Society has used any surplus funds for the advancement of fine music in the region.

Over the years, the society has presented a series of smaller concerts/recitals at a variety of venues. These recitals have featured a heavy concentration on senior students from Australia’s leading conservatoriums of music and professional musicians in the early years of their careers. By providing a showcase for their talents, the Society contributes to the ongoing development of their careers, and thereby ensures the future of top grade performance through the Musica Viva programme.

In addition, the Society has, over the years, granted scholarships to a number of Coffs Harbour’s musically talented youth to enable them to pursue their careers and organised master classes with visiting musicians for selected students to enable them to learn from, and play before, musicians of international repute. Our hope is that some of these local musicians may ultimately reach the pinnacle of their profession.
