Goldmund Quartet

Germany’s youthful Goldmund Quartet began their career in stellar fashion, winning prizes at major events including the 2018 Wigmore Hall Competition and the 2018 Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, and bursting onto the concert scene with a jam-packed schedule of performances across Europe and, more recently, in Asia and North America.

For their debut Australian tour, Goldmund offer some of the great masterpieces of the string quartet canon: Haydn and Schubert, set alongside a brand-new work, written for this tour by rising Australian composer Elizabeth Younan.

Internationally renowned baroque violinist, Rachael Beesley is joined by cellist Natasha Kraemer and theorbist Simon Martyn-Ellis.

The program is a mixture of ensemble music and solo works, including Biber’s charming Sonata Representativa, in which the violin imitates the sounds of various creatures including a nightingale, a frog, a cat, as well as a squad of musketeers!

Principal Cellist of the Sydney Symphony, Umberto Clerici, joins esteemed pianist Daniel de Borah for a special concert in Coffs Harbour.

Umberto made his debut as a soloist with SSO in 2017 with Strauss’ Don Quixote and in 2018 the Brahms double concerto. He has recorded several CDs with concertos, solo and chamber music and, in 2017, he realized two new solo recordings for ABC Classic.

Daniel de Borah is fi rmly established as one of Australia’s foremost musicians, consistently praised for the grace, fi nesse and imaginative intelligence of his performances. Festival appearances have included the Adelaide Festival, Musica Viva Festival, Huntington Estate Music Festival and the Australian Festival of Chamber Music. Daniel is a founding member of Ensemble Q.
