Acclaimed international performer and teacher, Bernadette was awarded the centenary Medal in 2000 by the then Australian Prime Minister, John Howard, for her contribution to Australian Music. Bernadette will premier Sonata: Ode by Peggy Polias, the winning work of Composing the Future, a new competition for Australian composers from the Sydney International Piano Competition. Bernadette is renowned for championing new works. She is a regular performer for Musica Viva with several new piano concertos written for her, including Tim Dargaville, Ross Edwards and Donald Hollier.
Sonata: Ode by Peggy Polias is the winning work of Composing the Future, a new competition for Australian composers from the Sydney International Piano Competition, supported by Creative Partnerships Australia Plus 1. The premiere performance of this work was will be given by Bernadette Harvey, on 02 December 2022 in Coffs Harbour
